CULBERT'S MARKET
For more than forty years, Culbert's has been part of the daily rhythm of Northmere. Still run by the same family that opened its doors all those years ago, it's the kind of place where folks know your name, your usual order, and maybe even your dog's name too. Whether you're stopping in for a coffee, gas, or just a quick chat, we're proud to be your neighborhood corner store - yesterday, today, and always.

Things to find at Cuthbert's: basic pantry staples, seasonal goods, single gas bump, and a fifteen item menu made fresh daily.

BLOSSOM BRANCH
the second biggest neighborhood, blossom branch is the only housing development without homes directly backing up or touching a body of water. these homes are considered the most affordable in town, though are still pushing a near million dollar cost, and are fairly close together. the neighborhood itself is reminiscent of any other in suburbia, three bedroom houses with backyards big enough for a swingset and streets safe enough for children to play in.

sunflower way is the main street that goes through the blossom branch neighborhood which is lined with homes. magnolia street, hibiscus drive, tulip circle, and rose court are each cul de sacs that branch off from sunflower way.

THISTLEWOOD
thistlewood is a large neighborhood that surrounds starlight lake with several other smaller streets branching off toward the hospital and golf course. homes are valued between 2.5 and 6 million with a coastal grandmother meets lake house vibe. homes are spaced far enough apart that you won't hear neighbors blasting a kelly clarkson cover, but close enough that you can still shout a good morning and be heard.

compromised of two streets broken up by a patch of woods, starlight lane surrounds up to starlight lake. addresses on north starlight are located on the top half of the lake (near blossom branch), while south starlight is located on the bottom half (toward the hospital). thistlewood also has several other streets that do not overlook the lake.

BEACON'S EDGE
the oldest neighborhood in northmere, beacon's edge is a coastal neighborhood with single family homes. many generational residents live here, though vacation rentals are common as those same families have moved on or taken advantage of northmere's every growing property value. homes in this neighborhood are closer together with less acreage, typically have 2-3 bedrooms, and have shingled exteriors and coastal vibes. they generally appraise between 1.5 and 3 million dollars.

houses on willowbrook with an even number are located against the coast while odd number houses are located across the street. all other addresses in the neighborhood span out toward the school and downtown.

CHARMWOOD
these condos are the newest neighborhood in northmere, built in 2023, and located at the northernmost part of the island. from the balcony residents can see the lit up ferris wheel from the boardwalk at night to their left and an open ocean to the right. there are 15 homes, each with a top and bottom condo, worth between 600k and 1 million. the hoa takes care of everything the residents need, which makes charmwood an excellent option for those who hate to keep up with the joneses.

unit a is on the bottom while unit b is on the top. each unit has their own private front entrance and parking spot in front of the house. there is overflow parking across the street.

KINGSHOLLOW
built in 2018, the kingshollow development is the second newest in northmere and was originally pushed back on by older residents. the island was previously home to free-for-all camping, several vacation homes, and unmanaged forest. now, homes valued between 5 and 15 million line the shores and two man-made lakes. homes are spaced with a sense of privacy on several acres, most with private dock access and house a mix of year-round locals and summer folk from new york and pennsylvania. most homes are more modern coastal, but some early plot purchasers opted for a more traditional look.

sunset crescent is closest to the mainland with each home backing up to the water. moonlit vale runs between the lakes with homes backing up to the water on either side. sunrise cove faces the open ocean with each home backing up to the water.

BELVEDERE PIER
with three long docks, belvedere pier is home to thirty different houseboats and yachts docked year round. with a mix of residents and seasonal patrons, several townies opt to brave life out at sea and consider belvedere a mailing address.

the higher the number, the further out in the dock the slip is.

MUNICIPAL SERVICES
Much like any other town, Northmere offers several governmental services to all of it's residents. Located in the same area just south of downtown, residents will find a post office, police station, library, city hall, and the public K-12 school. Each building has been remodeled to fit the town's modern coastal vibe rather than traditional-looking public service buildings.

REEF REALM
Reef Realm is a quirky local aquarium that's all about close encounters with the ocean's most fascinating creatures. It's crown jewel? The Shark Experience, where visitors can don wetsuits and get up close with the reef sharks that call the tank home - don't worry, they're more interested in fish than feet. Beyond the sharks, you'll find tropical fish, graceful rays, and the always popular Fish Tales, a storytelling program for kids run on weekends by Ellen, the local biologist with a passion for ocean conservation.

WILD CATCH
Wild Catch is more than just your average bait shop - it's a one-stop destination for anyone looking to reel in a good time. Owned by Clyde Wilder, a retired fisherman with more fish stories than the whole town combined, Wild Catch offers everything from tackle and bait to a hearty helping of local knowledge and gossip (often free with purchase). For those who don't own a boat but are eager for adventure, Wild Catch also offers deep-sea fishing excursions led by none other than Clyde himself (when he's sober and not too busy talking about his "glory days"). His boats are modest but reliable, and he knows the waters like the back of his hand - though if you ask him how he got his nickname, "The Catcher of Legends," he'll give you a wink and a laugh, and insist it's a story "for another time."

DOWNTOWN NORTHMERE
Downtown is the heart of Northmere - a walkable stretch of locally owned shops, cozy cafes, and one-of-a-kind restaurants that give our town its unique character. Whether you're browsing boutiques, grabbing a bite with friends, or just soaking in the charm of our historic New England streets, there's always something to discover. Day or night, downtown is where neighbors meet, stories are shared, and memories are made.

BOARDWALK
The boardwalk stretches along the edge of the ocean, humming with life and the scent of salt, fries, and cotton candy. Game stalls clang with bells and bright prizes, drawing crowds with every lucky toss. At the far end, a towering ferris wheel turns slowly against the sky, its lights twinkling as the sun sinks into the sea. "The Montclair" is located right on the beach, a four floor hotel popular with seasonal guests.

DARLINGS' FARM
Owned and run by the Darling family for three generations, Darlings' Farm boasts sprawling orchards of apples ready for picking and a small store for all your creamery needs. The farm's fresh milk, velvety cheese, and decadent ice cream (a local favorite) come straight from Bessie's Acres, a nearby cow farm just outside of town, that's been supplying the Darings with quality dairy for years. The Darlings themselves are often found behind the counter to serve customers and swapping stories about the latest harvest or the surprisingly dramatic local cow gossip. Whether you're picking apples in autumn or picking up a pint of cream in summer, Darlings' Farm is a staple of Northmere.

ROSCOE AIR STRIP
A single strip airport for small airplane landings and a single helipad for helicopters. There is also a hangar where small, personal aircrafts (up to 15) can be housed.

THE ACADIA CLUB
With its lush golf course winding through rolling hills, it's where locals and visitors alike come to swing a club, sip a cold drink, and pretend they didn't just hit a ball into the woods. The club also boasts a sparkling pool, a cozy bar for post-round cocktails, and a classic New England-style restaurant that's known for its lobster rolls and weekend brunches.

THE BLACKREEF
Perched on the rugged northernmost point of Northmere, The Blackreef Lighthouse is a local landmark known as much for its eerie past as for its striking views of the storm-tossed sea. For years, locals swore the lighthouse was haunted-whispers of ghostly apparitions in the tower, strange noises on foggy nights, and mysterious lights flashing when the keeper's cabin was long abandoned. Some said the lighthouse was cursed; others just joked it was perfect for pranks. It became a rite of passage for Northmere teens to pull off some ridiculous initiation, like sneaking into the tower at midnight or attempting to "live" in the lantern room for 24 hours.

In recent years, the lighthouse was bought by a couple of enterprising thrill-seekers who saw the potential in its spooky reputation. Now, The Blackreef Lighthouse B&B caters to those with a taste for the eerie, the unexplained, and the slightly macabre. Guests can book a room with views of the crashing waves below or stay in the "Ghost Suite"-rumored to be the most haunted part of the house. The B&B's charm lies in its combination of Victorian nostalgia and a touch of kitsch: antique furniture, crackling fireplaces, and an unashamed love for all things true crime. The owners even host "Spine-Chilling Weekends," offering ghost tours, paranormal investigations, and the occasional midnight murder mystery dinner.

MAGELLAN PARK
Home to Grimry Lagoon, Magellan Park has a single, round walking trail around the lake and two small pavillions that can be reserved for small functions. The area is woodsy and has several different flowers and plants not native to the area, with educational stations at each stop.

THE OVERLOOK
The highest point in Northmere, it looks over the ocean with a beautiful sunset view. It's known for being an amazing picnic spot during the day and, at night, where teenager's go to hit second base away from their parents.

HEARTH & HARVEST
A farmer's market located just north of downtown, the space is open Wednesday through Friday 11am to 7pm and Saturday to Sunday from 8am to 2pm. Pavillion style, a covered roof and made out of wood, repeat vendors are assigned a specific stall with one-off vendors located in the middle.

CAMPFIRE COVE
Bluefin Forest is the location of Campfire Cove, the choice location for nature lovers. Local legend boasts a ten foot rockfish, and it's where most the townies had their first kiss, but for the most part it's safe and family-friendly unless you see the pink trailer.

SERENITY TRAILS
Owned by the Hill family, Serenity Trails offers stables for rent, riding lessons, and several trails to ride on. Beyond the barn, miles of riding trails wind through sun-dappled woods, along stone fence lines, and up into the hills that gave the place its name. There's a ridge trail with panoramic views of the valley below, and a quiet creek crossing where horses pause to drink in the summer. In autumn, the trails blaze with red and gold, and in winter, the hills become still and peaceful under a soft coat of snow. On summer evenings, the barn glows with golden light, horses doze in their stalls, and the breeze carries the scent of clover from the pastures. It's not flashy and it's not loud, but Serenity Hills is steady, honest, and deeply loved - just like the family that runs it.

NORTHMERE MEDICAL CENTER
Located on the coast, NMC is a premiere trauma center with a dedicated staff prepared to handle anything that comes their way. The hospital is built to withstand the busy summer season, is overflow from Boston, and other nearby communities. In addition it serves as a destination hospital for cardiothoracic procedures.
